Not entirely sure who released what first but I'm doing it in order of how I've seen them. So first I saw the M&S Christmas advert, which as far as I'm aware is fairytale themed and features some big name faces; Rosie Huntington-Whiteley- who of course has her own lingerie range for the brand so seems right to use her face for the advert (and she ain't that bad to look at either) David Gandy also makes an appearance as the mad hatter and Aladdin is it? Tad embarrassing if I'm wrong there. Then the quirky Helena Bonham Carter stars as OZ and then a random lady at the end handing the gorgeous westie back to Rosie. In terms on festiveness, I'd give it a 3/5, not much of a Christmasy vibe, but it's still a cute advert that I'd remember.
Next is John Lewis with their The Bear and The Hare story, again quite kiddy related but this did steal my heart a bit. Apparently this cost 7 million to produce, so clearly so expense spared and Lily Allen's cover of Keane's Somewhere Only We Know is definitely growing on me, it suits the tone of the ad well. They had a huge bid to fill as I didn't think anything could top their lonely snowman ad from the previous year which even thinking about it is making me well up as I type! But I'd give it a festive rating of 4/5 just because it has more Christmas references than M&S and yay for Disney.
I didn't think this would impress me as much as it did, but everyone loves a bit of nostalgia. I love the whole VHS aspect of it, a bit like You've Been Framed, but a more serious version. This a simple idea yet effective in my mind. It gets a festive rating of 3.5/5. The point 5, I don't know, I just feel it deserves more than M&S
These are just a select few from the big brands that have caught my eye over the past week or so. I don't even have to mentioned what the Coca Cola advert does to me! What ones are you favs that I may not have mentioned?
